Last weekend we noticed some of the first color of fall, small areas of red or yellow shouting for attention in a sea of summer green. I grabbed my camera with the late afternoon sun still yielding a bit of warmth on our first cool, fall day. Here are the more interesting results of my hour’s hike around the trail and through the resort; a Red Oak clump, Virginia Creeper vine, and a small berry tree that I didn’t recognize.
Late August dawn with the golden sunrise reflecting off the birch leaves. I think the light is being reflected off the still water and then onto the undersides of the leaves. This gull will hang out on the raft until our first guests head to the beach.
Time to show-case several large, fancy flowers. The three daylilies are a gift from a friend in Alabama. He has over 5,000 varieties in his daylily collection and has started to hybridize and sell many of his best creations. His web site is www.jjdaylilies.com if you are interested.
